Price changes
APIO applies default price change policies designed to maximize transparency and protect buyers from unexpected charges, especially for active subscriptions.
These policies ensure that pricing changes are predictable, auditable, and clearly communicated to subscribers.
Default Price Change Policyβ
By default, APIO distinguishes between price increases and price decreases, applying different rules to each case.
Price Increasesβ
Price increases are restricted by default.
- Increases cannot exceed a predefined percentage limit
- This prevents unexpected extra charges for already subscribed users
- If a price increase is applied:
- The subscriber is notified in advance
- The new price applies only according to APIO rules
- The product price cannot be changed again for 30 days
This cooldown period ensures pricing stability and avoids frequent changes that could confuse or negatively impact customers.
Price Decreasesβ
Price decreases are treated more flexibly, as they benefit the subscriber.
- Decreases are applied automatically
- The new lower price takes effect as soon as possible
- Subscribers are still notified of the change for transparency
No cooldown period is applied for price decreases under the default policy.
Subscriber Notificationsβ
For both increases and decreases, APIO notifies affected subscribers to ensure:
- Clear communication of pricing changes
- Visibility into upcoming charges
- Trust and transparency in recurring billing
Custom Price Change Policiesβ
APIOβs default policies can be customized to meet specific business needs.
Merchants can request:
- Larger or unlimited price increases
- Removal of percentage limits
- No cooldown period between price changes
These changes require direct coordination with APIO Support to ensure compliance, risk assessment, and proper configuration.
Best Practicesβ
- Keep price increases gradual and well-communicated
- Use price decreases strategically to reward loyalty
- Avoid frequent pricing changes on active subscriptions
- Contact APIO Support before planning major pricing adjustments
APIOβs price change rules help maintain fairness and trust while still allowing flexibility when needed.
